Conservative Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands Region
Rupert Matthews is a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for the East Midlands.
Rupert has been an activist in the Conservative Party for over 30 years and served on his local council prior to being elected to the European Parliament.
He believes that as we move towards Brexit we need to take advantage of the opportunities opening up to us. He is especially keen to help the people of the East Midlands make the most of the process and sees it as an important part of his role to work to secure the best deal possible for the region.
Prior to becoming an MEP, Rupert worked as an historian appearing on radio and television as well as writing a number of books.
