Sir Edward Garnier, the MP for Harborough since 1992, was unanimously re-adopted as the Conservative candidate for the next general election in May 2015 at the annual general meeting of the Harborough Conservative Association held at Market Harborough Conservative Club on Friday, 28 March. Barry Champion was elected as the Chairman of the Association in succession to Mark Williams who has been Chairman for the previous 4 years.
Speaking later, Edward Garnier said: “The general election, which will be my sixth in Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, seems like a long way off but the next year and a bit will rush by. The Harborough Association now has the new team in place and we are geared up for the European elections this May and the local and national elections next year. I am immensely grateful for the immense amount of work that Mark Williams and the management team have devoted to the Party in the constituency and nationally and am delighted that thanks to them Barry Champion, our new Chairman, will have a solid platform from which to launch our 2014 and 2015 campaigns.”
