Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, today joined Patient Opinion, a service where people can leave feedback about their local NHS services. Sir Edward will get email notifications about how well the NHS services in Harborough, Oadby and Wigston are doing based on the ratings and comments left by users on the website www.patientopinion.co.uk.
Sir Edward commented, “Patient Opinion is an excellent way for the patient to be heard. Health service staff are alerted when a relevant story is posted. They can then respond online, including indicating whether a change has been made as a result of the story. In the past month, 10% of the feedback led to some sort of change. Patient Opinion makes NHS services listen to service users and respond to the feedback they are getting. I look forward to hearing what my constituents have to say about NHS services in Harborough, Oadby and Wigston.”
Patient Opinion is run by a not-for-profit social enterprise. A sister website, Care Opinion, is to be launched so people can share their experiences of adult social care services.
“Patients and care users should have a voice. And here is a place where they will be listened to.” Sir Edward said after signing up.
