Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, visited Rowley Court on Friday 27 September. Rowley Court is a housing development for older people containing nearly 50 self-contained apartments. He had a brief tour of the building just off Sandhurst Street in Oadby and met the residents for a cup of tea and a chat.
Following the visit Sir Edward commented: “It was good to see that such high quality apartments like those in Rowley Court in Oadby are available for older residents in my constituency. Care in one’s old age is something we all worry about and it was good to see that there is specialist support available without having to go miles away to find it. The residents of the 50 or so apartments can pop to the shops in Oadby town centre which is but a stone’s throw away or to the swimming pool which is the same distance. Oadby has always been a good place for retired people to live and it seems the residents I met on the 27th agree that it is still the case. They all enjoyed the benefits of independent living but in a community.”
