The festival held in the grounds of Bosworth Hall was attended by over 1500 people and raised more than £5000 for good causes. This is the ninth year of the festival and the organisers said it was the most successful yet. There were art demonstrations, charity, food and craft stalls, refreshments and visits from Top Gear’s Stig and Harbie the Newshound.
Sir Edward was handed a cheque for £1250 to pass on to Heart Link. “I know of the good work Heart Link have been doing, particularly with the ECMO service at Glenfield. The funding was unavailable through the NHS so Heart Link launched an appeal which led to the ECMO programme. The NHS then took over the funding. Heart Link have been working closely with the Glenfield Hospital since then and have raised money for many more projects as well. I know they do a lot more than working with Glenfield but with the current review of children’s heart services Glenfield’s Children’s Heart Unit has been very much on my mind.”
