Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, has today welcomed the news that North Kilworth will be one of the areas benefitting from the Government funding for fibre optic broadband.
He commented: “I have been on the North Kilworth case for over a year now. The abysmally slow speeds were brought to my attention last summer and since then I have written to BT, Government ministers and the Council on several occasions highlighting the need for faster broadband in North Kilworth. and I am pleased that today the announcement was made for fibre optic to be installed in 2014. It will greatly assist the families and businesses of North Kilworth who must have access to high speed broadband for their private and commercial communication needs. Nowadays you simply cannot operate without high speed broadband whether you just want to stay in touch with family and friends, run your rural businesses, fill in a tax form or as a school pupil, do your homework. We are living in an increasingly digital age and it is good to see that North Kilworth will not get left behind.”
