Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, encourages his constituents to respond to the consultation by the East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (ELR CCG) about the provision of Urgent Care services. It is to be launched on 24 February and can be accessed on the ELR CCG’s website: www.eastleicestershireandrutlandccg.nhs.uk.
Sir Edward commented: “The aim of the consultation is to get the public’s views on provision of urgent care, other than via the A&E department at Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI). I spoke to Tim Sacks, the chief operating officer of ELR CCG, this morning and agree that pressure on our A&E services needs to be lifted. The aim is to have services open 7 days a week where patients with urgent needs can be seen without their having to go to A&E at LRI. One of the things being consulted on is the Oadby Walk-in-Centre and it is especially important for Oadby residents to contribute to the consultation.”
Tim Sacks said: “We are determined to make sure that urgent care services across East Leicestershire and Rutland are effective and easy to access. Our proposals for change are built on the feedback we’ve had so far from the public and clinicians as well as detailed analysis of information about our local population, housing developments, transport and current use of services.
“Subject to the outcome of public consultation, our plans to improve would see urgent care provided in a different way, in the right locations and at the times we know people use them the most. We are looking forward to hearing people’s views on the options for the future and their help through our consultation, to make the best decision about the future of these important services.”
As well as an online questionnaire during the consultation, there will also be a number of public events at which people can learn more and have their say. To register to attend a drop-in session call 0116 295 4183 or email: communications@eastleicestershireandrutlandccg.nhs.uk
