Today, Saturday 28th July, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, Edward Garnier along with local Cllrs and other Conservative Party members from the area, spent several hours out talking to shoppers on the Parade, Oadby and in the surrounding area publicising the forthcoming public meeting ( 3rd August)regarding proposals to develop existing carparks, to as many local residents as possible. Hundreds of leaflets were handed out along with flyers and posters to local retailers and businesses for the meeting.
"Many residents who I spoke to were genuinely appalled and shocked to learn that the Lib Dem run Oadby and Wigston Borough Council via a Masterplan is proposing to build shops and flats on the carparks in East Street and Sandhurst Street in Oadby Town Centre. They fully support us in arranging this public meeting to get answers to what is going on " comments Harborough Conservatives Political Chairman, Cllr Phil King.
" This is an ill thought out scheme which has already cost the taxpayers of Oadby and Wigston dear, and is a disaster in the making. I urge as many residents as possible to attend the public meeting on Friday 3rd August".
