On Friday night, 5 May, The Harborough Conservative Association members successfully elected Neil O'Brien as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Harborough Constituency from a list of three exceptional candidates.
Neil has worked within No. 10 for several years and is currently an adviser to the Prime Minister on the economy, specifically working with employers in the Midlands on the "Midlands Engine" plan - the government's strategy to boost the economy by investing in the infrastructure and skills here and in turn attracting new businesses and more good jobs to the Midlands.
HCA Chairman, Barry Champion, said '50% of an MP's job is at Westminster and with a successful result on June 8th, it will allow Neil to hit the ground running, the other 50% is within the constituency and The HCA Management, Executive and it's members stand ready to help Neil and his family integrate and familiarise themselves with this wonderful community and will work hard over the next few weeks to get Neil elected as our new Member of Parliament.'
Barry continued' Sir Edward has been an outstanding servant to the people of Harborough, Oadby and Wigston over the past twenty five years and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the dedication and sense of duty he has shown to all our residents, no matter what political persuasion for the past quarter of a century.
Sir Edward intends to remain in Leicester and will still be attending our events, so our loss will be in the House, but not in our homes.'
'The HCA has put its faith in Neil O'Brien, we ask the Harborough Constituency to do the same on June 8th.'
