Sir Edward met franchisee, Glyn Pashley, who gave him a guided tour of the restaurant and he also met some of the 65 employees at the restaurant. They included Shift Manager, Emily Barks, who was recently promoted from Crew. The restaurant is proving popular, with an additional 7 jobs to be created in store this year.
Customers in Market Harborough have been voting for sites to be spruced up by McDonald’s staff as part of their commitment to Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Where You Live campaign. The ‘clean up’ event on 22nd July will be one of seven taking place across the region next month conducted by Glyn and his staff.
Sir Edward took time to vote, chatted to staff about their career ambitions, and also learnt about the company’s food sourcing – including their recent move to 100% British Freedom Food Pork.
Sir Edward said: “I very much enjoyed meeting Glyn and his staff, who are a credit to the company. They are providing a welcome boost to jobs in Market Harborough, their food is well sourced, and they are doing their bit for the community. I wish them every success with the forthcoming ‘clean up’ events – and, of course, as the MP for the whole of Market Harborough I voted for all three proposed locations!”
McDonald’s Franchisee, Glyn Pashley said: “It was great to meet Sir Edward – my staff and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. A lot of time and planning has gone into the Love Where You Live clean up events in July, so for Sir Edward to visit was a nice recognition for all their hard work.
McDonald’s has changed much as a business in recent years, with the introduction of our Level 2 Apprenticeship, Foundation Degree, and most recently Freedom Food Pork. It’s not every day we get to host our local MP – so we are very grateful to Sir Edward for his time.”
