We are pleased to hear confirmation via Harborough FM that Lib Dem Cllr Dominic Fosker has decided to stand down from Harborough District Council, following his move to Surrey.
While we understand his decision to move to Surrey, we simply did not believe it was fair on local residents to have their local Councillor living 123 miles away, for around a year until the next election cycle.
Had the local elections been imminent, we would have understood his decision to avoid a by-election, but with the next elections not due until May 2023, we believe he has made the correct decision here by standing down.
It is important to have a strong local voice representing residents, whichever Party they represent. Of course, we will be campaigning hard in the Logan ward in the coming weeks and months to do our best to ensure this is a Conservative voice.
Conservative controlled Harborough District Council has a strong record of delivering for residents and businesses across Harborough. We look forward to the campaign ahead to make our case in the Logan Ward, as we continue to work hard for a cleaner, greener and safer Market Harborough
