Over the last few years the radio industry has invested heavily in building national and local DAB digital radio coverage in the UK. Currently the residents of Harborough can access around 30 national and local digital stations, which they can check at getdigitalradio.com. The Government has been working with the radio industry on a 3 year Digital Radio Action Plan which includes further Government and industry investment in local DAB digital radio coverage to extend it towards FM equivalence.
Sir Edward, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston commented: “Digital represents the future of radio and over 26 million people already listen to digital radio every week; 44% of UK homes have one. Harborough, Oadby and Wigston have a very diverse population and will benefit from increased choice of stations and ease of use which is offered by digital radio. A simple digital radio can be bought for £25 and I would recommend my constituents to get tuned in for improved access to sport, speech and music.”
