Currently studying Business Management at The University of Sheffield, Great Glen resident Zoe met Edward Garnier MP and told him about her experience as a Lloyds Scholar following the successful expansion of the programme to a further four universities.
Lloyds Scholar Zoe Faulkner said: “I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to speak to my local MP about the Lloyds Scholars programme. Sheffield University was one of the first to join the scheme last year and I have already gained so much from the process. I am about to start my summer internship with Lloyds Banking Group, which I am very excited about and would not have been able to achieve if it weren’t for the programme.”
After the meeting, Edward Garnier MP commented: "I always take a keen interest in my constituents’ activities and having met Zoe, I can see that the Lloyds Scholars programme is of huge importance to young people. With the recent news of the expansion of the scheme, I hope that many more young people will have access to first-class higher education through this excellent opportunity.”
The Lloyd Scholars programme offers students from lower income households a complete financial and support package as well as access to a dedicated mentor from Lloyds Banking Group’s senior management team, paid internships with the Group and a chance to boost employability through lectures, workshops and events run by Lloyds Banking Group.
