Edward Garnier was delighted to hear that the Football Foundation has made a grant of £5,000 to Harborough Town Football Club, as part of its “Grow the Game” grant scheme. The “Grow the Game” scheme is intended to provide funding to football groups for additional costs including facility hire, promotion and publicity, league entry and referee fees. The grants are specifically targeted to those organisations which use football to increase participation by both players and volunteers and provide new activity.
Of the news, Sir Edward said, “I gather that the “Grow the Game” scheme is very competitive so Harborough Town Football Club has done well in securing this important funding. I understand that this money will be used to develop two girls’ mini-soccer teams and one disability football team over the next 2 years and to create 3 fully qualified FA coaches, with specific knowledge in disability football and youth football development. It is very good that this scheme develops a way for organisations like this to flourish in the future and I wish Harborough Town FC every success in the future.”
