Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston welcomed the news from the Schools Minister, David Laws MP, that Parkland Primary School in South Wigston and Meadowdale Primary School in Market Harborough, both Academies, are to receive funding through the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund to carry out improvements in their schools.
Parkland Primary will be using the money for their Year 6 project and Meadowdale Primary will be using their money to contribute to their new sports hall.
Sir Edward commented: “It is good to see so many schools converting to Academy status in the constituency. We can already see improvements at these schools directly flowing from their more independent status. I wish them every success with their projects.”
David Laws MP added: “Through the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund programme this year, we have approved allocations of almost £340 million at more than 800 academies, demonstrating the Government’s commitment to address key building condition issues and help popular and successful academies to expand.”
