Edward Garnier has welcomed the Big Lottery Grant to Voluntary Action Leicestershire of £941,966. The grants were awarded after applicants applied to the £30 million Transforming Local Infrastructure Programme, an initiative set up by the Office for Civil Society shortly after the Coalition Government came to power in 2011. The Programme is designed to provide funding to partnerships of local infrastructure organisations to rationalise and transform the support services they offer front line civil society organisations[1].
Commenting Edward Garnier said, “Having met local representatives of VAL at the end of January, I cannot emphasise enough the important work which the organisation carries out. I hope this grant to VAL which will cover Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, will be an enormous boost to their resources so that it can provide better and more efficient front line services to those who need them most.”
