Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston, visited the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance shop in St Mary’s Place, Market Harborough on Friday, 10 June during National Volunteer Week. He met staff and volunteers to discuss the work of the charity and to hear about the role volunteers play in keeping the service flying.
Sir Edward said: “It was a pleasure to meet the staff and volunteers and to hear about the vital role they play in keeping this service running. The helicopter had flown two missions on Friday morning and they were expecting the total of 25,000 flights, that’s just one more, to be reached during the day. It’s a vital, life-saving service dependent on public support so I urge people to give generously to this very good cause.”
