Sir Edward Garnier, MP for Harborough, has been told by Post Office Limited about proposed changes to the Great Bowden Post Office at 28 The Green, Great Bowden, near Market Harborough. The Post Office network has been going through a period of modernisation and they are hoping to make the Great Bowden post office more modern and convenient for its customers.
If the proposed changes go ahead, there will be a low-screened, open plan style service point integrated with the retail counter. The branch would be open for longer: until 7pm from Monday to Saturday and until 6pm on Sundays. The branch will need to be closed for up to seven days during May/June for refurbishment if the changes go ahead. A poster will announce the exact dates at least two weeks in advance.
Some services would also be lost, including Parcelforce Worldwide International parcels and Transcash (without barcode), on demand travel insurance and payment by cheque.
Edward Garnier said: “I urge my constituents to respond to these proposals so that they can have a say in the future of their post office.”
Responses can be made via www.postofficeviews.co.uk and by typing in the unique code number for the branch: 36221799. Information is also available in the branch itself. Feedback will be accepted up to and including 5 April 2016.
