" Independent" Cllr urged to consider his position !

 Cllr Blake Pain, a member of the HDC executive, district member for Lubenham,and County Councillor for Market Harborough West commented: " I can recall Cllr Galton informing council at the very first meeting after the election that Cllr Birch would be taking the Lib Dem whip in order to play an active role within the council as an independent. I can understand the logic of this because as an  independent, one  would  fall below the ratios that represent the political make up of the various panels. However, It was not suggested that he was to become a fully fledged Lib Dem representative for Fleckney. If this is the case, in my opinion  Cllr Birch would  have to seriously consider how ethical his position is given  the excellent turnout in Fleckney during the 2011 elections, returned both lib dem  candidates the lowest share of the vote out of all 6 candidates. In fact, both candidates share of the vote put together wouldn't of  returned a Lib Dem representative for the ward'
